version 1.6 The Application Server powered by WinFrame (licensed from Citrix Systems, Inc.) is a software program that greatly enhances the performance of data-intensive applications for remote DOS, Windows, and Windows 95 users. Because some LAN based applications (database queries, E-mail, etc.) can cause high volumes of data to be sent across the slower WAN link between the network and the remote client, Attachmate offers the RLN Application Server. The RLN Application Server processes applications locally on the LAN - only keyboard, screen and mouse commands travel across the link to the remote user. Because of the reduced data traffic, the RLN Application Server can boost remote access performance by 300% or more.
Unlike traditional remote control solutions that require a dedicated
PC on the LAN for each remote user, the Application Server running
on a Pentium platform will support multiple simultaneous users.
And, because the Application Server powered by WinFrame is integrated
with RLN, its use is transparent to remote users -- they simply
click on the desired application icon. RLN has been preconfigured
by the LAN Administrator to use the Application Server when needed
